Constraining the Dark Matter Distribution With Large-Scale Structure Observations
We discuss the use of galaxies to trace the large-scale structure of the universe and thereby to make cosmological inferences. We put special emphasis on our lack of knowledge about the relative distribution of galaxies and the dynamically important dark matter. We end with a discussion of the increasing importance of infrared astronomy to large-scale structure studies.
متن کاملConstraining dark matter through 21 cm observations
Beyond reionization epoch cosmic hydrogen is neutral and can be directly observed through its 21 cm line signal. If dark matter (DM) decays or annihilates the corresponding energy input affects the hydrogen kinetic temperature and ionized fraction, and contributes to the Lyα background. The changes induced by these processes on the 21 cm signal can then be used to constrain the proposed DM cand...
متن کاملForecasts for Dark Energy Measurements with Future HI Surveys
We use two independent methods to forecast the dark energy measurements achievable by combining future galaxy redshift surveys based on the radio HI emission line with Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) data from the Planck satellite. In the first method we focus on the ‘standard ruler’ provided by the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) length scale. In the second method we utilize additional inf...
متن کاملConstraining the coupling constant between dark energy and dark matter
We have investigated constraints on the coupling between dark matter and the interacting Chaplygin gas. Our results indicate that the coupling constant c between these two entities can take arbitrary values, which can be either positive or negative, thus giving arbitrary freedom to the inter-conversion between Chaplygin gas and dark matter. Thus, our results indicate that the restriction 0 < c ...
متن کاملConstraining the Dark Universe
We combine complementary datasets to constrain dark energy. Using standard Big Bang Nucleosynthesis and the observed abundances of primordial nuclides to put constraints on ΩQ at temperatures near T ∼ 1MeV , we find the strong constraint ΩQ(MeV) < 0.045 at 2σ c.l.. Under the assumption of flatness, using results from Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy measurements, high redshift super...
